"Cylinder 2 misfire detected" records firings in cylinder 2 that did not produce the power they should have, counted by the engine computer itself. It is P0301's twin with the cylinder number changed; the numbering is the engine computer's, not the order the cylinders sit in. The code says which cylinder and how the count was filed, and nothing more.
This is a standard code. It means the same thing on every make of vehicle.
What the program shows for P0302
The Misfire cyl 2 card is that cylinder's live counter on the Dashboard, and the Full scan prints cylinder 2's count for the last ten drives and this drive alongside the others, each with its share of the total. Recording the drive keeps those counts in the file, so the same figures can be read again with the car parked.
The Dashboard's Misfire count cards show one counter per cylinder once the engine is running, next to the Engine speed and Ignition timing traces. The Full scan's On-board self-tests give each cylinder's misfire count for the last ten drives and this drive with its share of the total, and a recorded drive works out a misfire rate over that recording for the Analysis screen and the printed report. The Inspection screen shows whether the Misfire detection monitor is done or still running.
